Dean Alain Senga Miatudila, Sr., Ph.D., LEED G.A.

Dean Alain Senga Miatudila, Sr., Ph.D., is the Associate Dean of Engineering at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC - Central Campus, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA). Dean Miatudila joined the Engineering Division in July of 2019 as the Division Director of Engineering, and in August 2020, he was promoted to the Associate Dean of Engineering position. In this role, he plans to organize and direct the instructional and administrative activities of his assigned division. He provides divisional leadership that ensures a quality instructional process. Some of his duties include program coordination and curriculum review, which provides highly responsible instructional and administrative staff support to a Dean. He coordinates assigned activities with other College divisions.
Prior to his CPCC appointments, Dean Miatudila was a Faculty Associate for 11 years in the Department of Engineering Technology and Construction Management (ETCM) at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He contributed the ETCM Department from 2008 to 2019 and taught undergraduate civil engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, geomatics engineering technology, and construction management courses.
In addition, Dean Miatudila was part of the Adjunct Faculty from 2018 to 2019 for the Construction Management Technology program at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC - Harper campus, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA). In that role, he taught courses for the Construction Technologies Division including architectural technology, construction management technology, and electrical systems technology.
Dean Miatudila has remained active in the local community in many ways. In 2013, Dean Miatudila was honored by CPCC as the recipient of the Richard H. Hagemeyer Educational Advancement Award. He served as a member on the advisory board for the CPCC Civil Engineering Technology program 2018-2019, and has been a member of Independence High School’s Academy of Engineering (Charlotte, North Carolina, USA) since 2016. His involvement in these programs allowed him to play a key role collaborating on and updating curriculum, and organizing work-based learning activities. Dean Miatudila also provided opportunities for high school students to experience the diverse world of engineering and education, giving them the opportunity to build relationships with mentors before going to a college or university. In 2020, Dean Miatudila was honored by the North Carolina Organization for Student Success as the recipient of the 2020 Outstanding Alumnus of a Program award.
Prior to years of higher education appointments, Dean Miatudila worked for 10 years within the industry. His work experience covers a vast range of civil engineering design including: roadway design, land development, erosion control, storm drainage, storm water management, utilities, flood impact studies, hydraulics & hydrology, geotechnics, and construction material testing. It also includes architectural design and many areas of the construction industry concerning residential, commercial, industrial buildings, and infrastructure.
